The Confederation Centre Young Company - Abegweit: The Soul of the Island

Talented young performers of diverse ethnicities come together to tell the story of the people, history, and future of Prince Edward Island with music, dance and spoken word.
Monday - Saturday at noon from July 1 - August 21 in the outdoor amphitheatre.

Charlottetown Prince Edward Island- Canada's Birthplace; tells the story of this great nation like no other. Projected off of Province House- National Historic Site of Canada and set to Island authentic music, this show will captivate you with spectacular imagery and wonderful narration. Share the songs, stories, history and culture that have been told to Islanders for generations. The FREE, bilingual show presented by Homburg Canada Inc. will play off of Province House- National Historic Site of Canada nightly at dusk.

The only act ever to receive nominations from both the Canadian Comedy Awards and the East Coast Music Awards, Chuck & Albert are no strangers to the art of total entertainment. Multi-instrumentalists, great physical comics, and consummate showmen, PEI's dynamic duo return once again to the Harbourfront Stage equipped with lots of new fun and toe-tapping music from their debut CD, énergie.  Please note: there are only four performances this summer:
July 14th and 28th and August 4th and 18th, 2010.

Johanna's story is riveting - beginning with her description of growing up in Montreal with a spaced-out hippie Mom and her younger sister (who was to become her brother). Although the facts in this story are stranger than fiction, ultimately, this is a universal tale of love and survival, told with mesmerizing honesty and humour.

Rob Lutes is a soulful singer-songwriter from Montreal with an ever-growing collection of literate, moving meditations on life and love. His ability to encapsulate universal ideas and questions, coupled with his gritty, heartfelt delivery and world-class performance chops, have invited comparisons with several legends in the roots genre from John Hiatt to Fred Eaglesmith.

Hosted by the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival, bring the kids to Green Park Shipbuilding Museum for our kids' Day. Many fun games and activies, and a BBQ at lunch!

The Biking for Breakfast Challenge is the only road cycling charity event in North America that travels across a complete province in one single day. This unique and exciting event is fully supported on rural country roads, some near traffic-free, alongside gently touched landscape, farmer’s fields, and always within minutes of one of PEI’s five dozen sandy beaches. Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province with a population of 134,000. Our country landscape is the background for many paintings, dreams, and vacations. The pace is slow; the people are friendly; the atmosphere is welcoming. The bicycle fits well within our recreational pace of life here on the Island where people lending a helping hand to one another is commonplace. But don't let the beauty of our province fool you. To bicycle 284 km in one day is a CHALLENGE. Use the picturesque background to take your mind away from the physical pain that you will feel during the day. Take advantage of the rolling hills to look to your side to view the pastures, rivers, and land. Cherish the moments where you are riding in a group to chat about the scenery, the turnout of cyclists, and the over one thousand kids who have been helped since the inception of BFBC. Take a extra five minutes at a Refueling Station to hear a story of what it means to be an Islander from a local resident who is volunteering at the event. 

Colette Cheverie has established herself as one of PEI’s finest young singers. As a respected interpreter of traditional folksongs, with those rooted in Atlantic Canada and beyond, Colette gives a refreshing and modern slant to ancient songs blending alongside of contemporary works. Colette entrances her audiences with her crystal-clear voice paired with stirring ballads and haunting melodies of traditional Scottish and Irish folksongs. She will be accompanied by Tim Chaisson on guitar and Glen Coolin on whistle and pipes.
